Flower block wall hanging.

I've joined a local needlework group for immigrant women, Drentse Doeken, we have been working on a wall hanging for the volunteers centre. Each woman has made a square, this is the result so far, I'll post another photo when it is sewn together and hanging in place.

Card making.

I've been enjoying making greeting cards recently, here's one I made a few weeks ago on plastic canvas mounted on handmade paper then onto a pre-folded card.

Making chutney.

I've been making chutney from a recipe in an old book by Marguerite Patten, called 500 Recipes for Jams, Pickles, Chutneys.

As you can see, these books are well used. We've made hundreds of jars of chutney over the years and they always turn out well.

Our favourites are Apple and Pear, Autumn Fruits, and the Green Tomato chutney.

Earlier this summer we had a lovely family from Denmark come to stay with us for the jeugdtour, their little girl made friends with our dog Harry and yesterday we had these lovely drawings from her.

Jolly Red teapots tapestry

Here is a tapestry I did in 2002, it was in kit form from Jolly Red in Somerset, I like this as the canvas is completely covered with stitches, it was framed by my Dad

Orchids

This orchid was given to me two years ago by my parents-in-law.

There were 14 flowers the first year, last year 7 on one spike (I broke the other spike when we moved) and this year it looks like it will have 27 flowers in total.

I'm really pleased with it, orchids seem to be easy to look after, I water this once a week in summer and once every two weeks in winter, I use a few drops of orchid food now and then.

The flowers are each 9 cm (about 3 1/2 inches) across

David on a penny farthing

We went to our local bike shop to reserve two bikes for our cycle holiday customers, and David came out riding this. Our customers will get normal dutch bikes!

45th Wedding Anniversary card

I made this card for my parents-in-law. I couldn't find a 45th wedding anniversary card in Assen so decided to make one myself.

The card is made from a piece of cross stitch tapestry sewn on to a pre-folded card.
I planned it on graph paper, cut the plastic canvas to size, and started sewing, it took about 3 hours in total. I attached it with the white yarn in 5 places.
